How to Take Screenshots on iPhone

Learn how to capture your screen on any iPhone model, including those with Face ID or Touch ID, and how to take scrolling screenshots in Safari.

Method 1: Standard Screenshot (Most iPhones)

  1. Locate the Side Button (on the right) and the Home Button or Volume Up Button
  2. Quickly press and release both buttons simultaneously
  3. For iPhones with Face ID (no Home button):
    • Press Side Button + Volume Up at the same time
  4. For iPhones with Home button:
    • Press Home Button + Side Button or Power Button
  5. A thumbnail will appear in the bottom left corner - tap it to edit or swipe left to dismiss

Method 2: Using AssistiveTouch

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch
  2. Turn on AssistiveTouch
  3. Tap Customize Top Level Menu
  4. Add Screenshot to your menu options
  5. Now you can tap the AssistiveTouch button and select Screenshot to capture your screen

Tip: This method is helpful if your physical buttons aren't working properly.

Method 3: Full Page Screenshot in Safari

  1. Take a standard screenshot using one of the methods above
  2. Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears in the corner
  3. At the top of the screen, select Full Page
  4. Scroll through the preview to see the entire webpage
  5. Tap Done and choose to save to Photos or Files

Note: This feature only works in Safari and some other Apple apps.

Method 4: Using Back Tap (iOS 14 and later)

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch
  2. Scroll down and select Back Tap
  3. Choose Double Tap or Triple Tap
  4. Scroll down and select Screenshot
  5. Now double or triple tap the back of your iPhone to take screenshots

Editing and Sharing Screenshots

Immediately after taking a screenshot:

  1. Tap the thumbnail that appears in the corner
  2. Use the markup tools to draw, add text, crop, or highlight
  3. Tap Done to save your edits
  4. Tap the share button to send via Messages, Mail, or other apps
