Chromebook Screenshot Guide
Taking screenshots on a Chromebook is simple with built-in keyboard shortcuts. Here are all the methods to capture your screen on Chrome OS.
1. Full Screen Screenshot
To capture your entire screen:
- Press Ctrl + Show Windows keys simultaneously
- The Show Windows key looks like a rectangle with two lines on the right side (usually located where F5 would be)
- Your screen will flash and the screenshot will be saved to your Downloads folder
2. Partial Screenshot
To capture a portion of your screen:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Show Windows
- Your cursor will turn into a crosshair
- Click and drag to select the area you want to capture
- Release to take the screenshot
3. Screenshot of a Single Window
To capture just one window:
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Show Windows
- Your cursor will turn into a camera
- Click on the window you want to capture
- The screenshot will be saved automatically
Note: On some Chromebook keyboards, you might need to use Ctrl + F5 (for full screen) or Ctrl + Shift + F5 (for partial screenshot) if the Show Windows key isn't labeled.
Where to Find Your Screenshots
All screenshots are automatically saved to your Downloads folder:
- Open the Files app
- Navigate to the "Downloads" folder
- Look for files named "Screenshot" followed by the date and time
Using the Stylus (on compatible Chromebooks)
If your Chromebook comes with a stylus:
- Press and hold the stylus button
- Tap and drag to select an area to capture
- Release to take the screenshot
